A lover of the arts with a passion for beauty, David Armendariz began his career on stage, not behind the chair. He earned a degree in Music and Dance from the University of Houston in 2003, then danced professionally for 10 years in Houston, Denver and Las Vegas. Eventually, he channeled that same intensity into a new craft: hairstyling. Today, he brings that artistic background to his work as owner and stylist at Studio A Salon.
That shift paid off. Allure Magazine recently hailed Armendariz as a “Color Wizard,” and his editorial recognition doesn’t stop there — his work has also been featured in Beauty Launchpad, Modern Salon Magazine, and the Houston Chronicle. His fashion show credits include Tootsies, Houston Brides, Mia Bridal, and Ivory Bridal. He’s also a familiar face on Houston television, appearing regularly on ABC’s “Mirror Mirror,” CBS’ “Great Day Houston,” and CW 39’s “Newsfix.”
Armendariz’s talent extends well beyond color. He’s earned particular acclaim for his dazzling bridal up-do’s, along with contemporary hairstyles built for any special occasion. As Studio A Salon’s hair extension specialist, he’s mastered the art of creating luscious, natural-looking length using Hotheads Extensions. Meanwhile, his haircutting technique is built around face shape, individual features, and hair texture — an approach that keeps a growing base of loyal clients coming back.
On the color side, Armendariz is certified in L’Oreal Professionnel and INOA color, delivering results that are classic, effortless, and built to last. He also serves as a National Educator for Kérastase Paris and Shu Uemera, and has worked as a platform artist with Hotheads Hair Extensions. Even with those credentials, he’s a firm believer in never stopping. He regularly attends continuing education classes with Vidal Sassoon and L’Oreal Professional — because for David, the pursuit of perfection never really ends.
